It's All About the Jeans
How to get that perfect cuffed jeans look
Cuffed designer jeans are very trendy these days. Cuffing your jeans can add a bit more flare and a different look for some variety in your jeans wearing. Here are some tips to get the perfect cuffed jeans look. With the right cut and style of jeans you'll be walking the fashionable jeans line with the best of them.
First off, it's important to know who looks best in cuffed jeans. Both men and women can pull off the cuffed jeans look, but they should do it at different heights. Cuffed jeans tend to look best on dark wash jeans. Also, if you're a bit short or petite, it's better to steer clear of cuffs on jeans as they will only serve to make you look shorter.
For women, cuffs on jeans should be between your knees and ankles. Although personal preference does play a role, the cuffs on your jeans should ideally just hit the bottom of the ankle. The cuff is typically one or two inches wide. For men's jeans, the cuffs should be around your ankles, with little to no space showing (which is more for women's jeans).
In the case of women's jeans, the cuffs should be made on straight-legged or skinny jeans only. This will help maximize the vertical line of the jeans. If you cuff flared leg jeans, they will look a bit odd and you will have trouble getting them to stay cuffed.
If you have difficulty getting the cuffs of your jeans to stay in place, there are a few tricks you can use. First of all, try using an iron, or better yet a steam press if you have one, to iron the jeans cuffs in place. In the event that your jeans cuffs are still slipping, you can take more drastic measures by strategically using safety pins. Do your best to keep them hidden or the cool cuffed jean effect will be compromised. Another trick I've heard friends use is to apply double-sided tape to hold the cuffs of your jeans in place. Of course, this will only work temporarily until you wash those jeans!
