It's All About the Jeans
What are the best style of jeans for a man?
Whether you're buying jeans for yourself or the man in your life, it's important to think about what makes a man look good, truly good, in a pair of jeans. What makes a man turn women's heads by his sheer physical presence in a stylish, well-fitting pair of designer jeans? Well, it obviously depends on the man himself, but here are a few universal guy jeans rules you should consider.
Jeans Fit. As we're no longer living in the eighties or nineties, men should avoid super tight jeans. It just isn't appealing to most women. Jeans should be well fitting, but not too tight. Men's jeans should be fairly loose through the legs, crotch, and waist. If you're buying jeans at a store, walk around a bit to see how they feel. If you're buying men's jeans online, do the same at home (you can always return those designer jeans!). A man should try on the pair of jeans with one of his usual belts and shoes to see how they will really look. And it may sound silly, but don't be afraid to check out your butt as your jeans should flatter it.
Jeans Style. Again, men should avoid any jeans reminiscent of a past era. Timeless jean styles are the way to go. Don't be caught in eighties acid washed jeans or the unfortunate nineties grunge jeans look with holes and patches. The ideal man's jeans are loose, but not baggy. If jeans are too baggy, it's nearly impossible for them to flatter a man's body because you can't see the man's body. Finally, boot cut jeans are generally a good bet. Men should avoid jeans that taper (become tight) at the bottom, but bell bottom jeans aren't good either!
Jeans Color. As with the jeans style, men should select jeans with traditional colors. You're pretty much okay with any shade of blue, from faded to dark. Brownish rusty colored jeans can also look great on a man. Plain black and any bright color other than blue jeans should be avoided by men.
Final Jeans Details. The length of jeans for a man should have the back cuff aligned with the top part of the shoe's sole. And, if in doubt as to whether jeans are good for you, ask a female friend. It may sound cliche, but you'll likely get a good opinion. If possible, buy preshrunk men's jeans so that you don't have to worry about the length or fit changing. Otherwise, be sure to wash the jeans before altering their length.
